Overview

How we write is as much a part of Flowit Supply as how we look. Our words should feel like they come from one person: clear, practical and precise. Designers come to us for their next project, so every line should be plain and sure.

Voice

Three qualities define how Flowit Supply sounds, wherever we show up. Choose one to see what it means in practice.

Overview

We say what we mean in as few words as it takes. Each line leads with the most useful point.

In practice

The voice is easiest to understand in real copy. Each line here shows one rule at work.

Lead with the claim

Say the thing first, then explain it. A reader who stops after the first line should still have the answer.

Find a template. Use it in your project.

One idea per sentence

Keep sentences short, with one instruction each. A second idea gets a sentence of its own.

Premium mockups for your design workflow.

Plain over clever

Use the words the reader already knows. Use real numbers wherever you have them.

Calm when things break

When something goes wrong, drop the personality. Say what happened and what to do next.

Do and don’t

Writing tips

A few habits keep the voice consistent, whoever is writing.

01
Read it aloud

If a sentence sounds stiff, say it the way you would to a designer, then write that down.

02
Start with the point

Put the most useful fact first, such as what the asset is. Background can follow.

03
Trim the extra words

If the same idea fits in fewer words, use fewer words.

04
Stand behind the facts

Say only what the material supports. Readers should be able to rely on what we tell them.

05
Match the moment

A launch and an error call for different tones. Keep the voice steady and adjust the tone.
